Once upon a time, there was an island where all the emotions and human values lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and among others, Love.

One day they realized that their island was sinking, so they prepared their boats to leave. Only Love wanted to stay until the very last moment. When the island was about to sink, Love decided to seek help.

Wealth was passing by and Love asked, “Wealth, can you take me with you?”

“I cannot help you, Love,” replied Wealth. “There is too much gold and silver on my boat, I don’t have room for you.”

Then Love decided to ask Pride, who was passing by in a magnificent ship. “Pride, I beg you, can you take me with you?”

“I cannot help you, Love,” replied Pride. “Here everything is so perfect, you could damage my boat.”

Then Love saw Sadness passing by the island and asked, “Sadness, please take me with you.”

“Oh, Love,” replied Sadness, “I am so sad that I cannot help you.”

When Happiness passed by the island, she was so happy that she didn’t even hear Love calling out to her.

Then Love heard a voice: “Come, Love, I will take you with me.” It was an old man in a small boat.

When they arrived on land, Love disembarked and the old man left. Love was so happy that she forgot to ask the old man for his name. Love realized how much she owed him, so she asked Knowledge, “Knowledge, you surely know who saved me?”

“It was Time,” replied Knowledge. “Time?” asked Love. “Why would Time save me?”

Knowledge answered, “Because only Time is capable of understanding how important Love is in life.”
